George McQuillan completed the game without help from the bullpen as the
Boston-NL Braves defeated the Chicago-NL Cubs by the score of 4 to 2 at South
End Grounds.

McQuillan(10-5) looked very much in control throughout the day.  He allowed
only 5 hits and 4 walks in 9 innings.  Boston-NL had a total of 11 hits for
the game.  

Ed Willett(1-6) was the loser.  He got hit hard, allowing 11 hits and 3 walks
