Larry Cheney had a complete game as the Chicago-NL Cubs defeated the
Washington Nationals by the score of 8 to 2 at Griffith Stadium.

Chicago-NL went ahead for good in the top of the 5th inning scoring one
runner.  Chicago-NL kept the pressure on throughout the contest as they
scored in 6 different innings.  

Cheney(11-4) got the victory, allowing 2 runs for the game. Jack Coombs(6-9)
was given the loss.  He pitched 9 innings and surrendered just 5 hits and 1
walk.
