First baseman Chick Gandil had 3 base hits and 3 RBI at Shibe Park as the
Philadelphia-AL Athletics embarrassed the Detroit Tigers by the lopsided
score of 11 to 1.

Philadelphia-AL took the lead off Hub Perdue in the first inning when they
tallied 3 runs on 4 hits. That early run support was all that Marty
O'Toole(5-5) required. Philadelphia-AL finished with 15 hits while Detroit
ended up with 10.

Bert Humphries preserved the game for O'Toole, recording his his 1st save.
The loss was charged to Perdue(7-7). He allowed Philadelphia-AL 6 runs in 5
innings of work.

The Philadelphia-AL ballclub's record now stands at a division leading 30-22.
With the loss, the Detroit ballclub's record is 28-30.
