Dave Davenport pitched a complete game and Buck Herzog had 2 base hits and 2
RBI at South End Grounds where the Cincinnati Reds beat the Boston Braves by
the score of 6 to 1.

Cincinnati scored 3 runs in the decisive top of the 6th inning when they had 4
base hits. The highlight belonged to Dick Hoblitzell who deflated the mood
of the partisan fans when he laced a base-knock scoring two baserunners. The
teams had been locked in a scoreless duel until the 6th inning.

Davenport(4-1) finished the game allowing 1 run in the victory. Otto Hess(2-2)
was tagged with the loss. He pitched 7 and 1/3 innings giving up 10 hits and
no walks.
