Brooklyn came up with the deciding runs in the bottom of the 9th inning scoring 2 runs on 2 hits. Harry Stovey led off and started the attack as he drew a walk. Foutz was next and he slapped a single. Foutz took off for second and slid in with a stolen base. After an out was recorded, Tom Daly came up and he drew a walk to load the bases. Oyster Burns stepped into the box and slapped a one-base hit giving Brooklyn the win as 4,205 happy fans joyfully celebrated. Brooklyn finished with just 3 hits in the victory. The victory went to Stein(5-7) who went the distance allowing 1 run. Mike Sullivan(0-1) was hit with the loss. He surrendered only 2 runs and 3 hits in 8 and 1/3 innings. Foutz was in great spirits in his post-game interview. Yet, when asked about his feelings after the thrilling comeback victory, he volunteered, 'I'll tell you this much - I know how my counterpart, Charlie Comiskey, feels right now - and it's not very good. It's terrible when you come up on the short end of one of these!'
