Right fielder Sam Thompson launched 3 homeruns and had 5 RBI and Jack Taylor
went the distance at Baker Bowl where the Philadelphia Phillies beat the
Cleveland Spiders 12 to 3.

Thompson had a great day at the plate. He clubbed a solo home run in the 2nd
inning, lifted one out of the park for a two run home run in the 3rd inning
and bombed a two-run dinger in the 8th inning. Philadelphia rapped out 15
hits for the afternoon.

The win was credited to Taylor(4-3) who went the whole way allowing 3 runs.
Bobby Wallace(4-8) ended up with the loss. He surrended 4 homeruns in his 8
innings.

'Thompson led the way - we just jumped on his back and let him take us,'
Taylor said. 'I'm glad I don't have to face him. I'm glad he's on my team.'
