Harry Coveleski allowed Hughie Jennings to rest his bullpen, tossing a
complete game and Sam Crawford had 2 base hits at Fenway Park as the Detroit
Tigers beat the Boston Red Sox by the count of 5 to 4.
The game was decided in the top of the 9th inning. After an out was recorded,
Ossie Vitt lashed a single. Hughie Jennings then called for a steal which
was successful. Ty Cobb then drew a walk. Crawford came up and he would hit
into a force play scoring the run. Detroit managed 10 hits in their victory.
Coveleski(10-2) allowed 4 runs on the game. Dutch Leonard(2-3) ended up with
the loss in relief. He was a hard-luck loser, pitching 1 and 1/3 innings and
not allowing an earned run.
