Ralph Branca came through with a solid 5 innings at Forbes Field as the very
talented Boston Red Sox beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 12 to 5.
Branca(10-2) had a solid outing for Boston. He went 5 innings surrendering 1
hit and no walks. The Boston offense man-handled the Pittsburgh pitching
staff as they scored in 7 of the 9 innings.
Forrest Thompson gained credit for his 3rd save. Early Wynn(1-6) was the
