WEB GEMS- Top 3rd: Jackie Robinson robbed Ralph Kiner of a base hit.

Sid Gordon went deep and had 4 RBI at Crosley Field as the New York-AL Yankees
pulled off a dramatic comeback beating the Cincinnati Reds by the count of 13
to 9.

New York-AL erupted with the game winning runs in the 9th inning scoring 6
runners on 4 hits. The biggest moment was provided by Del Ennis who silenced
the stadium when he tripled plating all three baserunners. Cincinnati
out-hit New York-AL 12 to 9, but New York-AL ended up with more runs.

The victory was credited to Stubby Overmire(2-2) who went 3 innings, allowing
3 runs. Bob Chipman(2-4) was given the loss in relief. He saw his ERA jump
from 4.95 to 6.15 as gave up 6 runs in 1 inning.

Robert Baker was feeling mighty fine as he answered questions in his office
after the game, 'Now that was one fine ending! Did you see how the crowd just
sat there in silence after the winning run scored? Here we are celebrating
wildly, and the stadium is cloaked in virtual silence. Weird. but GREAT!'
