WEB GEMS- Bot 6th: Billy Serad robbed Darby O'Brien of a base hit.
Bot 7th: Pop Corkhill robbed Dude Esterbrook of an extra base hit.

Billy Serad allowed Gus Schmelz to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game
and center fielder Pop Corkhill had 4 hits and 2 RBI as the Cincinnati Red
Stockings won in dramatic fashion over the New York Metropolitans by a score
of 11 to 6 at Cricket Grounds.

Cincinnati had the game winning rally in the top of the 9th inning as they
scored 6 runs on 6 base hits. The big moment was provided by George Tebeau
who deflated the spirits of the home town crowd when he delivered a base-hit
bringing in two baserunners. Cincinnati managed 13 hits in their victory.

Serad(4-4) finished the game allowing 6 runs in the victory. Al Mays(4-10) was
given the loss. He was touched for 13 hits and 4 walks in 9 innings.

Cincinnati now has a record of 22-22. New York can't seem to snap out of
their recent 'funk'. Now they have a miserable 2-8 record over the last
couple weeks.
