Harry Staley went the distance as the Pittsburgh Alleghenys beat the Chicago
White Stockings in 10 innings by a score of 14 to 12.

The score was knotted at 12 after nine innings.  Pittsburgh won it in the 10th
inning.  Doggie Miller kicked off the action when he doubled.  After an out
was recorded, Al Maul came up and he reached on an error.  Maul took his lead
and swiped second.  Billy Sunday followed and he stroked a single scoring two
baserunners.  Sunday took second on the throw.  Both teams ended up with 16
hits on the afternoon.  

Staley(6-9), allowing 12 runs for the game, picked up the victory. Ad
Gumbert(3-5) was tagged with the loss.  He was unable to control the
Pittsburgh offense and allowed 16 hits and 3 walks in 10 innings.
