Philadelphia-NL jumped on top to stay in the bottom of the 3rd inning scoring 2 runs on 3 base hits. Claude Ritchey started the inning off right when he slapped a base-hit. After an out was recorded, Lou Criger stepped in and he drew a walk. Jack Slattery then stroked a single to load the bases. Jack Dunn was up next and he ripped a one-base hit driving in a run. One out later, Davy Jones came to bat and was hit by a pitch scoring the final run of the inning. Philadelphia-NL had 17 hits for the game and Cincinnati had 13.
