First baseman Hal Chase ripped 2 homeruns and had 7 RBI at Bennett Park where
the New York Highlanders beat the Detroit Tigers by the score of 15 to
8.

Chase enjoyed a great day at the plate.  He smacked a three-run homer in the
1st inning, delivered a single bringing in a run in the 1st inning, clubbed a
three-run home run in the 5th inning, ripped a base-knock in the 8th inning
and slapped a base-hit in the 9th inning.  New York lit up the scoreboard in
the 1st inning with 8 runs on 6 hits.  New York had 20 hits overall, while
Detroit had 13.  

The victory was credited to Hippo Vaughn(6-1) who went 7 innings, allowing 6
runs. Sailor Stroud(2-3) was given the loss.  He gave up 13 runs in 7 innings
of work.
