Center fielder Harry Hooper had 5 hits and 3 RBI as the Cincinnati Reds
outscored the Washington Nationals 10 to 2.

Hooper provided the offensive punch.  He lined a base-hit in the 1st inning,
lined a one-base hit scoring two baserunners in the 2nd inning, delivered a
solo blast in the 4th inning, laced a single in the 5th inning and slapped a
base-hit in the 9th inning.  Cincinnati kept the pressure on throughout the
contest as they scored in 6 different innings.  

Hub Perdue(6-6) went 6 innings allowing 2 runs for the win. Charlie Smith
earned his 1st save.  George Baumgardner(3-7) ended up with the loss.  He saw
his ERA jump from 4.76 to 5.13 as gave up 7 runs in 3 and 1/3 innings.  

Wth the win Cincinnati now has a record of 40-30.  With the loss, the
Washington ballclub's record is 24-30.
