Warren Spahn went 9 strong innings as the Washington Nationals defeated the
Chicago-NL Cubs in 13 innings by the score of 4 to 3 at Griffith
Stadium.

The score was tied at 3 after nine.  Washington ended up winning it in the
13th inning.  After an out was recorded, Joe Adcock doubled.  After another
out, A balk was called.  Ray Boone then slapped a single making Washington
victorious to the delight of the the home town crowd.  Washington rapped out
8 hits for the afternoon.  

Ken Holcombe(3-0) got the win allowing no runs in 1 inning. Howie Judson(1-5)
was the loser in relief.  He gave up 2 hits and no walks in 2/3 of an inning.

Wth the win Washington now has a record of 23-32.  With the loss, Chicago-NL
has a record of 4-6 lately, 26-41, worst in the league overall.
