First baseman Ted Kluszewski had 4 hits and 2 RBI as the Cincinnati Reds
defeated the Washington Nationals 8 to 6 at Crosley Field.

Cincinnati scored 4 runs in the 7th inning when they came up with 3 base hits.
The big moment was provided by Larry Doby who electrified Crosley Field when
he tripled bringing home two baserunners.  Washington threatened in the 9th
but Cincinnati was able to put down the rally.  

The victory was credited to Warren Hacker(5-4) who went 2 innings, allowing no
runs. Jackie Collum earned his 2nd save.  Bob Rush(4-9) suffered the loss.
He was knocked around by Cincinnati, allowing 15 hits and 2 walks in 8
innings.  

'It was a tough one to lose' said Gordy Renaud 'We'll get them next time out.'
