George Bradley was able to finish what he started and was credited with a
complete game and Ned Cuthbert had 3 base hits at Grand Avenue Park as the
St. Louis B Brown Stockings won in their last at-bat beating the New York
Mutuals by the count of 6 to 5.

The game was decided in the 9th inning. Cuthbert laced a one-base hit.  Bobby
Mathews then threw a pitch that got away from the catcher.  Dickey Pearce
then reached on an error.  Pearce got a good lead and stole second.  Two outs
later Bill Hague stepped up to the plate and he reached on an error giving
St. Louis B the victory as 45,673 happy fans celebrated wildly.  The game was
a wild affair with the lead changing hands 5 times.  

Bradley(7-2) got the victory, allowing 5 runs for the game. Mathews(6-17)
ended up with the loss.  Wth the win St. Louis B now has a record of 9-6.
With the loss, the New York ballclub's record is 6-17.
