Chicago came through with the game-winning runs in the top of the 9th inning as they scored 4 runs on 4 base hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by Bill Lange who helped quiet the crowd when he delivered a single which was good for two runs. The Chicago offense was great, scoring in 8 of the 9 innings. Bill Hutchison(6-8) went 1 inning allowing no runs for the win. Hutchison got relief help from Hal Mauck who gained credit for his 1st save. The losing pitcher was Al Maul(2-9). He was knocked around by Chicago, allowing 16 hits and 4 walks in 8 and 2/3 innings. Jim O'Rourke was understandably not very talkative after his team's tough loss. He quickly showered and changed and when asked about the game had a terse, yet polite response, 'Hey fellows, that game was a heart-breaker to lose. Our guys gave it their all and played well - fate just wasn't smilin' on us this afternoon' SCORESHEET: 1893 Chicago Colts at 1893 Washington Senators J.Ryan-A1 A1:L/6 B1:HBP C1:F/9 *6*:L/6 E1:P/6 F1:F/7 B.Dahlen-A1 A2:Si+E/3 B2:Do>1# C2:Tr D2:W>b1 *8*:K F2:Do>13 S.Dungan-A1 A3:Si>2# B3:P/6 C3:W>b1 D3:Si+E/6 E3:G/13 F3:Si>3# >1# 23 C.Anson-A1 A4:G/43>1 *3*:G/31 C4:Do>3# D4:G/13 E4:Si F4:W>12 b 2 13 1 B.Lange-A1 A5:Si>2# B5:G/13 C5:W>b1 D5:K E5:Tr>1# F5:Si>3# 2# 12 W.Wilmot-A1 A6:W>12 b B6:Do C6:F/7 *7*:G/43 E6:L/4 F6:L/3 1 J.Parrot-A1 A7:Force/ B7:Si>2# *5*:L/4 D7:Si *9*:G/63 5>2o b1 G.Yost-A1 *2*:G/53 B8:F/9 C8:L/4 D8:Sac/24 E8:Tr G.McGinn-C7 >12 B.Hutchi-E7+ P.Schriv-A1 A9:G/63 *4*:K C9:F/9 D9:PB>23 E9:FC/42> Si>3# 3# P.Radfor-A1 A1:W>b1 B1:G/53 C1:L/4 *5*:P/6 E1:E/9>b2 F1:K D.Hoy-A1 A2:WP>12 B2:E/1>3# C2:W>12 b D2:P/5 E2:G/13 *9*:Si PB>23 W>b 23 1 1 J.O'Rour-A1 A3:W>12 b B3:SB>12 C3:W>23 1 D3:F/7 E3:Si>2# F3:L/3 1 F/8 2 b1 S.Wise-A1 A4:W>3# 2 *2*:Tr C4:G/43 *6*:K E4:G/43 F4:Si+E/4 3 12 b1 >13 H.Larkin-A1 A5:W>3# 2 B5:W>b1 *4*:Si D5:W>b1 *8*:W>b1 F5:E/6>3# 3 12 b1 23 D.Farrel-A1 A6:Si>3# B6:L-DP/5 C6:Si+E/1 D6:L/3 E6:W>12 b F6:HBP>12 23 12 >3o >13 1 J.Mulvey-A1 A7:Si>3# B7:WP>12 C7:G/13 D7:Si>12 E7:PB>23 F7:P/5 O.Stocks-F7 23 12 L/6 12 L/6 J.Sulliv-A1 A8:Si>3# *3*:L/5 C8:G/13>3 D8:FO/5 E8:W>b1 F8:G/13 23 12 # 23 A.Maul-A1 A9:SF+E/9 B9:W>b1 C9:G/23 *7*:G/43 E9:L/6 J.Meekin-F2 >3# 23 12 bo
