Cy Young went 9 solid innings as the Cleveland Spiders defeated the New York
Giants by a score of 4 to 1 at Polo Grounds.

In the 2nd inning Cleveland went on top for good plating an isolated run on 3
hits.  After an out was recorded, Chippy McGarr laced a single.  Jack
O'Connor stepped into the batter's box and he slapped a one-base hit.  Jimmy
McAleer then lined a base-hit scoring the run.  Cleveland banged out 14 hits
on the afternoon.  

Young(7-4) was the winner allowing 1 run for the game. Les German(1-3) was hit
with the loss.  'We didn't have a whole lot of chances today,' Jack Doyle
said.  'Young just was too much for our guys.'
