The New York-AL Yankees nipped the Cincinnati Reds in 10 innings 10 to 9 at
Crosley Field in a hard fought contest.
The game was deadlocked at 9 after nine full innings. New York-AL ended up
winning it in the 10th inning. After an out was recorded, Ted Kluszewski
reached on an error. Ralph Kiner followed and he hit a deep fly scoring the
run. New York-AL banged out 16 hits on the afternoon.
The winning pitcher was Mel Parnell(3-2) who allowed no runs in 2 and 2/3
innings. Dutch Leonard(0-1) was the losing pitcher in relief. He was pinned
with the loss despite not allowing an earned run in his 1 and 1/3 innings of
work.
