Al Dark connected with a 'big fly' at Wrigely Field as the Pittsburgh Pirates won in dramatic fashion coming back to beat the Chicago-NL Cubs by the count of 6 to 4. Pittsburgh came up with the deciding runs in the 9th inning plating 3 runs on 3 base hits. After an out was recorded, Dark kicked off the action when he doubled. Don Mueller came to the plate and was walked intentionally. Monte Irvin then delivered a one-base hit scoring a run. Irvin took second on the throw. Red Schoendienst followed next and he stroked a base-hit as two more runners crossed the plate. Ellis Kinder was perfect in relief and gained credit for his 11th save. The win went to Ned Garver(4-3) who allowed no runs in 2 innings. Tom Gorman(0-2) was the losing pitcher in relief. 'We just kept swinging the bats and didn't give up,' Dark said. 'If you just keep trying good things can happen!'
