George Zettlein tossed a complete game and Levi Meyerle had 3 base hits and 2
RBI as the Chicago White Stockings beat the Baltimore Canaries by a score of
7 to 3.

Baltimore fell behind quickly as the Chicago offense came through in the first
inning with 2 runs utilizing 2 base hits.  After an out was recorded, Davy
Force began the rally when he drew a walk.  Fergy Malone came to the plate
and singled.  Meyerle then reached on an error scoring a run.  Asa Brainard
then threw a high and inside pitch that got by the catcher; it was ruled a
passed ball.  Jim Devlin stepped into the box and hit a single scoring the
final run of the inning.  Chicago totaled 14 hits on the afternoon.

Zettlein(5-5), allowing 3 runs for the game, picked up the victory.
Brainard(3-18) suffered the loss.  He pitched 9 innings allowing 14 hits and
1 walk.
