George Bradley went the distance and Dick Burns had 5 hits and 5 RBI as the
Cincinnati Outlaw Reds really laid it on the St. Louis Maroons 27 to
8.
Burns was unconscious out there. While St. Louis pitching was serving
softballs up there for him to hit, the St. Louis fans were serving up some
hardball barbs when he entered the batter's box. But he just used it as fuel
for the fire. He tripled in the 1st inning, delivered a solo blast in the
6th inning, ripped a base-knock plating two runs in the 7th inning, tripled
in the 8th inning and tripled bringing in two baserunners in the 9th inning.
Cincinnati lit up the scoreboard in the 7th inning when they had 11 runs on
10 hits and the 9th inning with 6 runs on 5 hits. The Cincinnati offense
man-handled the St. Louis pitching staff as they scored in 7 of the 9
innings.
The win was credited to Bradley(12-5) who went the whole way allowing 8 runs.
C.V. Matteson(0-1) suffered the loss. He was hit hard and gave up 24 hits
and 5 walks in 9 innings.
