Boileryard Clarke had 4 hits and 3 RBI at Robison Field as the St. Louis-NL
Cardinals beat the New York-NL Giants in 10 innings by the count of 10 to
9.

The score was knotted at 9 after nine innings.  St. Louis-NL won the hard
fought contest in the 10th inning.  After two were out Dick Harley smacked a
single.  Clarke followed and he doubled giving St. Louis-NL the win much to
the delight of the home town crowd.  St. Louis-NL bats were very productive
in the 2nd inning with 3 runs on 5 hits.  New York-NL was out-hit by St.
Louis-NL, 23 hits to 14.  

Grant Thatcher(1-0) was the winner allowing no runs in 1 inning. Ed
Doheny(2-3) was the losing pitcher in relief.  He gave up 1 run and 2 hits in
2/3 of an inning.
