St. Louis-AL came up with the deciding runs in the 8th inning with 2 runs on 3 base hits. Sherry Magee started the inning off right when he delivered a single. Bill Bergen was next and he laid down a sacrifice bunt. Jack Barry then banged out a single scoring a one-base hit run. Terry Turner stepped in and he reached on an error. After another out, Stuffy McInnis came up and he delivered a base-hit scoring the final run of the inning. St. Louis-AL bats were hot in the 1st inning which saw them plate 8 runs on 8 hits. New York-NL threatened in the 9th but St. Louis-AL was able to put down the rally. The victory was credited to Addie Joss(5-6) who went 1 and 1/3 innings, allowing 3 runs. Ed Karger was credited with his 2nd save. Johnny Lush(0-2) was the loser in relief. He gave up 3 hits and no walks in 1 inning. Brian Capsello was subdued after the ballgame, 'That one really hurts. If our guys had simply played more fundamentally sound, we could have won that one. That is what really ticks me off!'
