Chicago had the game winning rally in the 8th inning with 2 runs on 2 hits.
Willis Cole opened up the inning nicely when he tripled. Rollie Zeider
followed and he was hit by a pitch. Zeider was safe at second on a stolen
base. Patsy Dougherty was up next and he singled scoring two baserunners.
Dougherty took second on the throw. Washington had a chance in the 9th but
they came up short.

Olmstead(1-2), allowing 2 runs for the game, picked up the victory. The losing
pitcher was Walter Johnson(10-5). 'This was a tough loss,' said Washington's
manager, 'the kind that sticks with you for awhile.'
