Left fielder Enos Slaughter had 5 hits and 3 RBI at Crosley Field where the
Cincinnati Reds beat the St. Louis Cardinals 10 to 4.

Cincinnati brought 5 runs across the plate in the 7th inning with the help of
5 hits. The highlight belonged to Herman Reich who made the crowd come alive
when he stroked a single which was good for two runs. Cincinnati had 16 hits
overall, while St. Louis had 8.

Dick Fowler(5-5) got credit for the victory, pitching 7 innings and allowing 4
runs. Fowler got help from Satchel Paige who was credited with his 5th save.
The losing pitcher was Vic Raschi(9-3). He was knocked around pretty good,
giving up 7 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings.

'Ahhh, that victory was surely needed. Man alive, things were getting awfully
grim,' noted Rob Hickok. 'Now, we need to string a bunch of wins together
and turn things around!'
