WEB GEMS- Bot 2nd: John O'Brien robbed Jack Clements of a base hit.

Sam Thompson rocketed 2 homeruns and had 6 RBI and Kid Carsey pitched a
complete game at Baker Bowl where the Philadelphia Phillies beat the
Louisville Colonels by the score of 13 to 7.

Thompson was in a groove all day. He lofted a three-run 'big-fly' in the 1st
inning, lined a single which plated a run in the 2nd inning and cracked a
two-run shot in the 7th inning. Philadelphia had many opportunities
throughout the game and scored in 6 separate innings.

The winning pitcher was Carsey(4-5) who allowed 7 runs for the game. Bert
Cunningham(4-4) ended up with the loss. He got hammered, allowing 19 hits
and 5 walks in 8 innings.

'I've spent a lot of time in the cage and made some adjustments and they've
paid off,' Thompson said. 'I just take the same approach up there. I don't
overanalyze it. I go up there, see the ball and try to put a good swing on
it.'
