Left fielder Kid Nance had 4 hits and 2 RBI at Huntington Ave Grnds where the
Detroit Tigers beat the Boston Americans in 11 innings 8 to 6.
Both teams had scored 6 runs after nine full innings. Detroit won it in the
11th inning. After an out was recorded, Doc Casey began the Detroit spurt
when he cracked a solo homerun. Jimmy Barrett stepped into the batter's box
and he hit a single. Kid Gleason then doubled. After another out, Holmes
stole second with some aggressive base running. Sport McAllister stepped
into the box and was walked intentionally to load the bases. Nance continued
the rally and ripped a one-base hit scoring the final run of the inning. The
score went back-and-forth with the lead changing 5 times.
The victory went to Ed Siever(7-7) who went 3 innings, allowing no runs. Win
Kellum(0-6) was the losing pitcher. He allowed 8 runs and 17 hits in 10 and
1/3 innings.
