It was a wild day in Palace Of The Fans where the Cincinnati Reds defeated the
New York Giants by the score of 23 to 10.
The home town fans were very appreciative of the fine hitting performance
provided by Joe Kelley. He delivered a base-hit which plated a run in the
2nd inning, ripped a single scoring a run in the 5th inning and bombed a
two-run dinger in the 7th inning. Cincinnati kept the scorekeepers busy in
the 2nd inning with 6 runs on 6 hits and the 7th inning which saw them plate
6 runs on 5 hits. Cincinnati kept the pressure on throughout the contest as
they scored in 6 different innings.
Jack Sutthoff(8-2) picked up the victory, allowing 6 runs in 8 innings. Luther
Taylor(4-8) was the losing pitcher. By surrending 23 runs in 7 and 1/3
innings his ERA jumped from 3.79 to 4.40.
