Center fielder Ward Miller had 2 base hits at Baker Bowl as the Chicago Cubs
beat the reeling Philadelphia Phillies 3 to 2.

In the top of the 3rd inning Chicago went on top for good scoring one runner.
Philadelphia made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the
needed runs across.

The win went to Ed Reulbach(3-1) who allowed 2 runs in 6 and 1/3 innings.
Reulbach got relief help from Charlie Smith who gained credit for his 2nd
save. The loss was charged to Tom Seaton(3-6).

Red Dooin was clearly disappointed after the game. 'It was a manager's
nightmare out there', he said, 'We should have had this one.'
