Fred Goldsmith had a complete game and first baseman Cap Anson hit 2 doubles
and had 2 RBI at South End Grounds as the Chicago White Stockings pulled off
a dramatic comeback beating the Boston Beaneaters by the count of 5 to
4.

Chicago scored the winning runs in the 9th inning with 2 runs on 2 hits.
George Gore led off and keyed the rally when he lashed a single.  Charlie
Buffinton then bounced one in the dirt for a wild pitch.  Two outs later
Anson came to bat and doubled driving in a run.  Tom Burns followed and he
was walked intentionally.  Larry Corcoran stepped into the box and reached on
an error.  Silver Flint added to the uprising and reached on an error scoring
the final run of the inning.  Chicago and Boston each finished the afternoon
with 9 hits.  

Goldsmith(12-5) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 4 runs.
Buffinton(8-3) was hit with the loss.  He allowed 9 hits and 1 walk in 9
innings.
