Daisy Davis completed the game without help from the bullpen as the Boston
Beaneaters won at South End Grounds in dramatic fashion over the Philadelphia
Quakers, the final score, 2 to 1.

The game was decided in the bottom of the 9th inning. Jim Manning lashed a
single. The Only Nolan then let loose a wild pitch. After an out was
recorded, Nolan then threw a high and inside pitch that got by the catcher;
it was ruled a passed ball. Jim Whitney was up next and he worked the
squeeze play to perfection resulting in a mighty exciting win for Boston and
the 2,537 home town fans in attendance. Neither team was able to score until
the 6th inning.

Davis(1-2) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 1 run. Nolan(2-2) was
hit with the loss in relief. He gave up 1 hit and no walks in 1/3 of an
inning.

The Boston ballclub's record now stands at 10-19. With this loss,
Philadelphia has a 3-7 record of late, 17-15 overall.
