WEB GEMS- Top 6th: Honus Wagner robbed Tommy Corcoran of a base hit.

Center fielder Cy Seymour had 3 base hits and 2 RBI and Joe McGinnity tossed a
complete game as the New York Giants defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates by the
score of 6 to 5 at Exposition Park.

In the 6th inning New York scored 3 runs when they had 4 base hits. They
would prove to be the difference in the contest. Pittsburgh made it exciting
in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across.

The win was credited to McGinnity(6-6) who went the whole way allowing 5 runs.
The loss was charged to Vic Willis(8-3). He got hit hard, allowing 12 hits
and 4 walks in 9 innings.

'I just wanted to give my team a chance to win.' said McGinnity, 'I got burned
on a couple of pitches. But we won the game, and that's all that matters.'
