Right fielder Shoeless Joe Jackson had 3 base hits and 3 RBI as the Boston-AL
Red Sox defeated the Washington Nationals by the score of 7 to 3 at Griffith
Stadium.

Boston-AL jumped on top of Washington in the top of the 3rd inning when they
came up with 2 runs on 2 hits.  The critical plate appearance was by Roy
Hartzell who quieted the crowd when he laced a one-base hit which was good
for two runs.  Boston-AL totaled 9 hits on the afternoon.  

Boardwalk Brown(1-8) was the winner allowing 1 run in 5 innings. Brown got
relief help from Ad Brennan who gained credit for his 3rd save.  The loss was
charged to Smoky Joe Wood(11-4).
