WEB GEMS- Bot 2nd: Eddie Collins robbed Del Gainer of a base hit.

Left fielder Amos Strunk had 4 hits and 3 RBI as the Philadelphia Athletics
topped the Detroit Tigers by a score of 11 to 10 at Navin
Field.

Philadelphia started with a bang, jumping out to an early lead in their half
of the first plating 3 runs on 2 hits. Bris Lord led off and he slapped a
base-hit. Rube Oldring stepped up next and he laid down a sacrifice bunt.
Eddie Collins then hit a single. Collins was running on the next pitch and
he stole second. Home Run Baker stepped into the box and reached on an error
which scored a run. Philadelphia continued their aggressive style with
another stolen base scoring another run. Strunk was next and he hit a deep
fly scoring the final run of the inning. Detroit made it exciting in the

Jack Coombs(9-4) went 7 and 1/3 innings allowing 4 runs for the win. The loss
was charged to Joe Lake(4-4). He was hit hard and gave up 15 hits and 2
