The Boston-AL Red Sox defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates by a score of 8 to 5 at
Fenway Park.

Boston-AL tallied 3 runs in the 7th inning when they came up with 3 base hits.
The key offensive moment was provided by Al Zarilla who made the Boston-AL
fans a happy lot when he doubled which was good for two runs.  The game was a
wild affair with the lead changing hands 5 times.  

Hal White(4-0) went 1/3 of an inning allowing no runs for the win. White got
relief help from Bill Macdonald who gained credit for his 2nd save.  Eddie
Lopat(4-7) took the loss.  By giving up 8 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings his ERA
increased from 4.20 to 4.68.
