TEAM RISP- Cubs: 4 for 13 Red Sox: 6 for 13

In a thriller the Boston-AL Red Sox staged a dramatic comeback over the
Chicago-NL Cubs winning by a score of 7 to 6 at Fenway Park.

Boston-AL scored the decisive runs in a big bottom of the 9th inning plating 2
runs utilizing 2 base hits. George Kell led off the inning for Boston-AL
when he drew a walk. Dick Groat stepped up to the plate and he slapped a
single. After an out was recorded, Eddie Waitkus then drew a walk to load
the bases. Gus Zernial followed and he drew a walk bringing in a run. Joe
Tipton came to the plate and banged out a single resulting in an exciting win
for Boston-AL and a raucous post-game celebration by the home town fans.
Both teams finished the game with 9 hits.

The win was credited to Lou Brissie(1-2) who went 1 inning allowing no runs.
Eddie Yuhas(5-4) was given the loss in relief. He gave up 2 runs and 1 hit
in 1 and 1/3 innings.

Brissie and Waitkus were really whooping it up in the clubhouse after the
great come from behind victory. As Mel Gross noted, 'A win like this one can
do wonders for a team's attitude.' Everyone shares in the joy - the fans, the
players - even you guys - it's better than winning by a dozen runs!'
