Bob Lemon went the distance and Johnny Logan had 2 base hits as the
Philadelphia-AL Athletics pulled out a win over the New York-AL Yankees by a
score of 3 to 2 at Shibe Park.

The game was won by Philadelphia-AL when they scored a run in the bottom of
the 9th inning.  Logan doubled.  Jim Hegan was next and he lashed a single
making Philadelphia-AL the victors to the delight of the home town faithful.
Philadelphia-AL totaled 10 hits on the afternoon.  

Lemon(8-7), allowing 2 runs for the game, picked up the victory. Satchel
Paige(1-1) was the losing pitcher in relief.
