Joe Dobson(7-4), with relief help from Billy Loes, whitewashed Pittsburgh
while the Philadelphia-NL Phillies scored 7 runs in a day game at Shibe
Park.

Philadelphia-NL took the lead off Early Wynn in the first inning with 2 runs
on 3 hits. Nellie Fox got things going when he banged out a single. Phil
Rizzuto was next and he ripped a base-knock. Vic Wertz followed, but he was
set down on strikes. Al Rosen was a strikeout victim, unable to help out.
Stan Musial stepped into the box and doubled plating two runs. That was all
Dobson needed. Philadelphia-NL finished with 10 hits while Pittsburgh ended
up with 6.

Wynn(1-9) was hit with the loss. He saw his ERA jump from 5.21 to 5.72 as
gave up 7 runs in 5 innings.
