Right fielder Don Mueller had 4 hits and scored 3 times at Ebbets Field as the
Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Brooklyn Dodgers 9 to 5.

Pittsburgh set the tone of the game in the first inning when they scored 2
runs on 3 hits.  Brooklyn had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.

The victory went to Bob Turley(9-2) who went 7 innings, allowing 2 runs. Bob
Grim(2-5) was the losing pitcher.  He gave up 7 runs in 6 and 1/3 innings of
work.  

'Anytime you lose it hurts,' said Roy Purcell 'but it's losing the close ones
that really hurt.'
