WEB GEMS- Bot 9th: Tom Carey robbed Pete Donnelly of a base hit.

Asa Brainard collected 2 extra-base hits and had 3 RBI and Candy Cummings
completed the game without help from the bullpen at Olympic Grounds as the
Baltimore C Canaries belted the Washington Nationals by the count of 28 to
11.

Brainard was a thorn in the side of the hometown fans as he enjoyed a fine day
at their team's expense. He doubled in the 5th inning, tripled which plated
a run in the 6th inning and ripped a one-base hit knocking in a run in the
6th inning. Baltimore C bats were very productive in the 6th inning which
saw them plate 16 runs on 10 hits, the 7th inning when they had 4 runs on 3
hits and the 9th inning tallying 4 runs. Washington scored in 6 different
innings, but their shaky pitching kept them from victory.

The victory went to Cummings(11-12) who went the distance allowing 11 runs.
Bill Stearns(4-8) suffered the loss. He allowed Baltimore C 28 runs in 9
innings of work.
