Jim Devlin pitched a complete game and Orator Shafer had 3 base hits and 4 RBI
at Baseball Park where the Louisville Grays beat the floundering Cincinnati
Reds by the score of 18 to 9.

It was a good day for Louisville thanks to Shafer. He stroked a base-hit
scoring two baserunners in the 1st inning, laced a single plating a run in
the 4th inning and doubled bringing in a run in the 5th inning. Louisville
bats were very productive in the 1st inning when they had 5 runs on 4 hits
and the 4th inning which saw them plate 6 runs on 7 hits. Due to a poorly
pitched ballgame, scoring in 6 different innings was still not enough for
Cincinnati to come away with the victory.

Devlin(13-4) got the victory, allowing 9 runs for the game. The loss was
charged to Bobby Mathews(3-12). He allowed Louisville 18 runs in 8 innings
of work.
