George Gore had 4 hits and 3 RBI and Larry Corcoran completed the game without
help from the bullpen as the Chicago White Stockings smashed the overmatched
Boston Beaneaters, 17 to 5.

Gore had a big day against Boston.  He laced a one-base hit in the 3rd inning,
ripped a single in the 5th inning, slapped a base-hit which brought home a
run in the 6th inning and doubled plating two runs in the 7th inning.
Chicago bats were hot in the 5th inning when they had 4 runs on 4 hits, the
6th inning which saw them plate 4 runs on 3 hits and the 7th inning which saw
them score 5 runs on 6 hits.  The Chicago offense smacked the Boston pitching
staff around, scoring in 7 of the 9 innings.  

Corcoran(11-5) allowed 5 runs on the game. Jim Whitney(11-8) suffered the
loss.  He allowed a few too many baserunners giving up 19 hits and 2 walks in
9 innings.
