Ed Morris allowed Horace Phillips to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game
as the Pittsburgh Alleghenys bested the Philadelphia Athletics 5 to 1 at
Jefferson St Grounds.

Pittsburgh took the lead for good in the top of the 4th inning scoring a
single run.  Pittsburgh banged out 9 hits on the afternoon.  

Morris(15-8) was the winner allowing 1 run for the game. Bobby Mathews(10-5)
was charged with the loss.  He allowed 5 runs and 9 hits in 9 innings.
