Kid Gleason quieted any hopes that Boston may have had of a comeback and Eddie
Burke had 3 base hits and 4 RBI at South End Grounds as the Philadelphia
Phillies beat the Boston Beaneaters by the count of 12 to 10.

Philadelphia had the game winning rally in the top of the 8th inning when they
scored 4 runs on 6 hits. The biggest moment was provided by Al Myers who
deflated the mood of the partisan fans when he doubled emptying the bases.
Due to a poorly pitched ballgame, scoring in 5 different innings was still
not enough for Boston to come away with the victory.

The victory was credited to Tom Vickery(9-5) who went 7 and 1/3 innings,
allowing 10 runs. Gleason gained credit for his 1st save. Pretzels
Getzien(5-9) was charged with the loss. He allowed 19 hits and 4 walks in 9
innings.

Philadelphia now has a record of 27-16. With the loss, the Boston ballclub's
record is 21-23.
