First baseman Mike Grady hit one over the fence and had 3 RBI as the St. Louis
Browns defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 17 to 12 at Baker Bowl.

St. Louis scored the winning runs in the top of the 9th inning scoring 5
runners on 5 hits. The big moment was provided by Monte Cross who
disappointed the partisan crowd when he laced a one-base hit which was good
for two runs. St. Louis kept the scorekeepers busy in the 1st inning when
they had 4 runs on 4 hits and the 9th inning which saw them plate 5 runs on 5
hits. St. Louis had many opportunities throughout the game and scored in 6
separate innings.

The victory was credited to Kid Carsey(3-3) who went 8 and 2/3 innings,
allowing 12 runs. Jack Fifield(4-6) was charged with the loss. St. Louis
knocked him around a bit, as he gave up 17 runs in 9 innings.

Jack Boyle had 6 hits and 5 RBI in a losing cause for Philadelphia.
