Christy Mathewson carried a no-hitter into the 6th inning and George Stovall
had 4 hits and 2 RBI as the Cincinnati Reds defeated the St. Louis-AL Browns
by the score of 5 to 1 at Palace Of The Fans.

Mathewson(11-4) gave Cincinnati a solid outing.  He allowed just 3 hits and 4
walks in 9 innings.  The right-handed Mathewson lost a no-hitter when Jimmy
Slagle doubled with one out in the 6th inning.  Cincinnati managed 14 hits in
their victory.  

Addie Joss(4-12) was the loser.  He was unable to control the Cincinnati
offense and allowed 14 hits and 2 walks in 7 innings.  

The Cincinnati ballclub's record now stands at 31-22.  With this loss, St.
Louis-AL has a 3-7 record of late, 33-36 overall.
