Mickey Welch completed the game without help from the bullpen as the New York
Giants defeated the Boston Beaneaters by the score of 9 to 4 at South End
Grounds.

New York took the lead for keeps in the top of the 4th inning scoring one
runner.  New York simply wore out the Boston pitching staff, scoring in 6
different innings.  

Welch(5-5) finished the game allowing 4 runs in the victory. The loss was
charged to Old Hoss Radbourn(8-10).  The New York ballclub's record now
stands at 22-21.  Boston has a record of 22-19 after the loss.
