Boston was unable to recover after Chicago went ahead in the top of the 2nd inning scoring 2 runs using 3 hits. Hartman led off the inning for Chicago when he smacked a single. After an out was recorded, Herm McFarland came to the plate and drew a walk. Joe Sugden struck out, unable to help the rally. Katoll came up and he ripped a single bringing in a run. Dummy Hoy came up to bat and doubled scoring the final run of the inning. That early scoring was all that Katoll(4-6) needed. Chicago rapped out 11 hits for the afternoon.
